Audubon Canyon Ranch -------------------------(415) 868-9244

Audubon Canyon Ranch (ACR) is a private, non-profit organization that acts as guardian of three nature preserves in Marin and Sonoma counties, California - some 2,000 acres of tideflats, marshlands, coastal prairie, redwood groves, and other fragile wildlife habitats.

As a key to caring for Earth's natural systems, ACR provides visitors with a direct experience of nature, offers environmental education for school groups, trains volunteer naturalists, and conducts research for resource management and restoration.

Since its inception in 1962, ACR has acquired over 40 parcels of land in its pursuit to protect natural areas, has developed an extensive nature education system at its Bolinas Lagoon and Bouverie Preserves, has developed a scientific research center at its Cypress Grove Preserve, and has developed a core group of over 400 active volunteers.

In addition to its school programs, ACR's Bolinas Lagoon Preserve opens its gates to the public from mid-March to mid-July of each year. Thousands of visitors from around the Bay Area and beyond come to hike and witness the marvels of the preserve, including the nesting of over a hundred Great Egrets and Great Blue Herons.
