Bolinas Lagoon PreserveACR's 1,000 acre Bolinas Lagoon Preserve (BLP) in Stinson Beach, California, protects one of the west coast's major nesting colonies of Great Blue Herons and Great Egrets. The preserve consists of four rugged canyons of Douglas Fir, Coast Redwoods and California Bay rising up onto open hillsides of grasslands, coastal scrub and chapparral. |

As well as serving as the organization's headquarters, BLP is the setting for ACR's extensive school program, in which thousands of schoolchildren each year visit the preserve, guided by ACR docents. During its public season (Spring and early Summer of each year), BLP opens its gates to the public, who come to hike and witness large numbers of Herons and Egrets nesting in trees adjoining the preserve complex. |
