Estate Planning Information

 Many Audubon Canyon Ranch (ACR) donors have included ACR in their estate plans. They have done so knowing that their future gift, like ACR itself, will become a permanent resource, supporting year after year some of the most beautiful and productively used nature preserves in the San Francisco Bay Area.

It's easy to provide a lasting gift to ACR, by naming ACR as a beneficiary:
----- in your will or living trust;
----- in your retirement plan or bank account;
----- in your life insurance policy;
----- in a charitable remainder trust;
----- in ACR's Pooled Income Fund

You can, for example, transfer cash, stock, or real estate to a charitable trust which you create and which distributes annual payments to you for life. This trust will never pay capital gains tax on the sale of appreciated assets, gives you an immediate charitable income tax deduction, and provides a future gift to ACR’s Endowment.

ACR can provide you with a confidential analysis of the tax and income benefits of a charitable trust, life estate agreement, or pooled income fund. One of these powerful philanthropic tools may allow you to realize important family and financial objectives during life, then make a lasting gift to the Ranch.

What about your heirs? ACR is not asking you to disinherit family or friends. Even a small portion of an estate can make tremendously difference to ACR. Consider a donor who contributes $500 a year to the Ranch now. Setting aside $10,000 of his or her total estate in a charitable bequest for ACR’s endowment would easily continue the $500 annual gift indefinitely, with room for growth of principal. $10,000 is a large gift, but very likely a small portion of a total estate.

It took vision to create Audubon Canyon Ranch more than three decades ago. Vision remains essential in order to ensure the revenue to maintain ACR’s preserves, expand its educational and research programs, and keep ACR one of the most influential environmental resources in the Bay Area. A gift during life or at death to ACR’s permanent endowment will be a testament to your vision, and an enduring legacy benefiting the Ranch for years to come.
