The school program
offers curricula designed for 3rd through 5th grades. We offer:
----- - a free workshop each
season for teachers selected for our program
----- - a packet of teaching
materials for classroom preparation and follow-up
----- - a 1-2 hour classroom
visit by two docents, who present a slide show and original hands-on
materials & activities
----- - a class field trip
to a preserve, where each docent leads 5-7 students on a 3-4
hour exploration through a variety
----------of habitats and our informative
display halls
The school program is held on Tuesdays through Fridays from September
through November in the Fall, and March through June in the Spring.
Upon arriving at the preserve, docents meet the class and organize
the class into groups of 5-7 children per docent, whereupon each
group separates and visits various places on the preserve, all
the while being led and instructed by the docent.
