Since 1969, ACR has been committed
to providing the highest quality environmental education possible
for its docents. Volunteers at both Bolinas Lagoon and Bouverie
Preserves receive training through an intensive 22-session program
directed by the docents. Instructors, including ACR's Biologists,
teach subjects as diverse as pond ecology, birds, insects, Native
American history, and teaching techniques. An advanced training
class is also offered in some years. Training prepares docents
to work with schoolchildren both on the preserve and in the classroom.
Training classes are held at Bolinas Lagoon Preserve every other
year and at Bouverie Preserve in alternate years from September
through February.
The training is held once weekly from 9:30AM to 2PM. There is
a nominal fee to cover the cost of training.
