The Bouverie Preserve Open House this weekend
Traditionally reserved for
elementary school children and monthly pre-registered hikes, ACR's
Bouverie Preserve near Glen Ellen will be open to the public
this Saturday for its second annual Open House. Join us for a
rare opportunity to explore this 500-acre nature preserve!

No
reservations necessary, carpooling encouraged.

The
Bouverie Preserve hosts an exciting program of field
courses designed for adults who wish to hone their own naturalist
skills while learning more about the flora and fauna of Sonoma
County. Sign up for one seminar or the whole series! Easy to
moderate hiking; bring hiking shoes, a
hat, sunscreen, water and a bag lunch. Class size is limited.

former Bolinas Lagoon Preserve Resident Biologist Ray Peterson for an
exploration under the heronry. You'll see the amazing
architecture of Great Egret and Great Blue Heron nests and learn about

ACR receives 4 stars with Charity Navigator for 2nd
consecutive year!
Charity Navigator,
America's largest independent evaluator of charities, has once again
awarded Audubon Canyon Ranch four stars, the highest
possible rating, indicating that ACR manages its finances in an
efficient and effective manner. We are proud to have earned this
coveted designation two years in a row.

ACR Advisor Gordon Bennett receives
2008 Environmental Leader of Marin Award
Gordon Bennett of
Inverness, CA, has been named the recipient of 2008 Environmental
Leader of Marin by the Environmental Education Council of Marin
(EECOM).
Through efforts that span
Marin County, Gordon has been a strong voice in a range
of environmental causes. As a shorebird surveyor with ACR's
Cypress Grove Research Center and as a member of ACR's Board of
Advisors, Gordon has been a strong advocate of habitat preservation.
His work beyond ACR
includes working with the Sierra Club Bay Chapter Executive Committee,
the Highway One/Lone Tree Slide Technical Advisory Committee, the West
Marin Waste Brigade, and the Open Space District-Bolinas Wildlife
Disturbance Committee.
The award ceremony will
take place during a cocktail reception at the Mill Valley Community
Center on Tuesday, November 11, 2008, at 6:30 pm. For more information,

search of two talented scientists to expand ACR's conservation science
initiatives:
Helen Pratt
Postdoctoral Research Fellow:
ACR seeks a highly qualified postdoctoral researcher to work on
scientific issues relevant to the conservation of colonial waterbirds,
or the role of colonial waterbirds in wetland conservation.
Habitat Protection and Restoration (HPR) Project Leader
for Marin: The Marin HPR Project Leader manages
native plant propagation, plans invasive plant removal
and implements restoration projects.
