Protect what you love: Make a donation to ACR

Audubon Canyon Ranch conducts conservation science and conveys a love of nature to the thousands of children and adults who visit ACR preserves annually.

Please protect what you love and give to Audubon Canyon Ranch this holiday season.

Tax tip: IRA charitable rollover extented

If you are 70 ü or older, per the recently-extended IRA Charitable Rollover you may transfer up to $100,000 per year directly from an IRA to a public nonprofit organization like Audubon Canyon Ranch without triggering a federal income tax.

The law allows donors two opportunities to do this: once before December 31, 2008, and again before the end of 2009. This is a smart way to support ACR.

Bird census on Tomales Bay

Each year during the fall and winter months, ACR scientists census shorebirds and waterbirds on Tomales Bay with the help of dedicated volunteers. Join us as we collect data on these bird populations from boats and from the shores of beautiful Tomales Bay.

Volunteers should have excellent birding skills and be able to identify birds in flight and from a distance.

Upcoming surveys:

November 17, Monday, 9:30 am
December 4, Thursday, 11:30 am
December 16, Tuesday, 10:00 am

Family Exploring Outdoors

Autumn is a great time of year to explore the plants in our backyards and neighborhoods for fall fruits, nuts and seeds.

Can you find:

- Buckeye fruit?

- new female and male Coastal Redwood cones?

- Coast Live Oak acorns?

- Douglas Fir cones?

- Poison oak berries? (don't touch! even the bare twigs can cause an itchy rash.)
