King, M. E.
Publication Date:
1992
Type of Document:
Conference Proceedings

Conservation, management, and protection of harbor seats come under the purview of the Marine Mammal Protection Act (MMPA) of 1972 (Public Law 92-522). A primary directive of the MMPA is to protect marine mammal stocks from declining below their optimum sustainable population. To fulfill this directive in California, the California Department of Fish and Game (CDFG), in cooperation with the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), has been conducting annual, state-wide, aerial surveys of harbor seals to assess the status of the population.

Amphibians at Modini Ingalls Ecological Preserve: survey findings and management recommendations

Author(s):
Adams, S.
Publication Date:
2010
Type of Document:
Technical Report

Audubon Canyon Ranch created a database, preliminary inventory, and report of the selected vertebrates of Modini-Ingalls Ecological Preserve, with species profiles, status assessments, and management objectives. Amphibians as a group have experienced declines in recent decades even in protected areas. Jim and Shirley Modini have long had a keen interest in the large mammals and birds of the ranch and as such have worked to document and invite others to document the presence of those animals. In contrast, the amphibians of the ranch are relatively unknown.
