Become a Ranch Guide at ACR's Martin Griffin Preserve and share your knowledge and appreciation of nature with our Bay Area community during the awe-inspiring heron and egret nesting season. After training, Ranch Guides provide information to visitors about the preserve and its many unique natural features during the public season, which spans from mid-March through mid-July.
Learn about birding, biology, natural history & the environmental victory to save this preserve. Great for birders, nature enthusiasts, novices & experts alike!
AUDUBON CANYON RANCH WELCOMES NEW DIRECTOR OF EDUCATION
Depth, Experience, Passion and Working Knowledge Key to Selection
Audubon Canyon Ranch, in collaboration with PRBO Conservation Science and the San Francisco Bay Bird Observatory, is conducting a comprehensive survey of heron, egret, and cormorant nesting sites on California's northern and central coast. A concurrent companion survey focused on the northern central valley (Sacramento Valley and Delta) is being coordinated by Khara Strum of PRBO Conservation Science.

Audubon Canyon Ranch has land holdings throughout the San Francisco North Bay, as shown on the map here. Though ACR is best known for its preserves on the Bolinas Lagoon (the Martin Griffin Preserve) and in Sonoma's Valley of the Moon (the Bouverie Preserve), ACR protects over 2,000 acres of important native habitat throughout Marin and Sonoma counties.
