Become a volunteer with the ACR Conservation Science Program!

North Bay Heron & Egret Project

Join our volunteer field observers and track heron and egret nesting sites throughout the five northern San Francisco Bay area counties. Your work will provide vital information about nesting Great Blue Herons, Great Egrets, Snowy Egrets, Black-crowned Night-Herons and other species, to advance the important work of scientists, planners and conservationists.

Shorebird & Waterbird Monitoring on Tomales Bay

Each year, volunteer field observers assist ACR scientists on studies of shorebirds and waterbirds in Tomales Bay. Join the team, and you’ll help collect data on these birds from boats and from the shores of beautiful Tomales Bay. Volunteers should have excellent birding skills and be able to identify birds in flight and from a distance.

Birds of the Central Mayacamas Mountains

ACR biologists and volunteers are measuring the status and conservation needs of breeding birds in the Central Mayacamas Mountains near Healdsburg. The volunteer-based Breeding Bird Assessment on ACR's Modini Mayacamas Preserves is an effort to characterize bird use and associated avian habitat values in the region.

We encourage experienced birders who can identify the local species by songs or calls to join in this challenging effort.
