ABOUT ACR’S SCHOOL PROGRAM
The Nature Education Program at ACR connects children and adults with nature, cultivates environmental literacy, and promotes stewardship of the earth through experiential nature education and emphasis on lifelong learning. Over the course of ACR's 53-year history, more than 250,000 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students have participated in our innovative school education program, led by trained adult mentor/naturalists and working in cooperation with local teachers.
ACR Docents of the Martin Griffin Preserve are devoted, enthusiastic nature-lovers who wish to help connect schoolchildren in San Francisco, Marin, Alameda, and Contra Costa Counties with the magic and mystery of the natural world. Docents bring nature into classrooms and guide children in exploring the wonders of our preserves through docent-led, experiential nature hikes (1:6 docent-to-student ratio).
ACR Docents often inspire a life-long love and appreciation of nature in the children they meet.
