Biodiversity Bioblitz

Mar 3 2018 - 9:00am to 3:00pm
Modini Mayacamas Preserves

Come explore the Modini Mayacamas Preserves with other serious “nature nerds” and experts. Our goal is to add species records each season to the Biodiversity of the Modini Mayacamas on iNaturalist. Mark your calendar for the first Saturday of each month, join iNaturalist and our Biodiversity project, and then bring your enthusiasm, expertise, and camera.

Click here to register on Eventbrite.

$20 per person suggested donation. Contributions support the preservation, education and conservation science programs of Audubon Canyon Ranch. All donations are greatly appreciated!

Modini Mayacamas Preserves Reading the Landscape

Audubon Canyon Ranch Event Calendar

Reading the Landscape

Mar 17 2018 - 9:00am to 2:00pm
Modini Mayacamas Preserves

Clues to habitat history are all around us: in the bends of branches, the distribution and size of trees and shrubs; the size and shape of lichen on the rocks; the color of soil; and the location and size of bunchgrasses. And sometimes, if you use careful observation, and apply some logic, you’ll discover an old homestead, a Native campsite, an old stagecoach route and when it was built and abandoned, or when the last wildfire burned a place. Join ACR Education Specialist Dave Self and start learning how to read the landscape of the Modini Mayacamas.

Wildlife Camera Walk with Ginny Fifield

Wildlife Camera Walk with Ginny Fifield

Mar 18 2018 - 9:00am to 1:00pm
Modini Mayacamas Preserves

Spend the morning learning about some of the wildlife that inhabits the Preserves with Ginny Fifield, Wildlilfe Camera Specialist, ACR Living With Lions team member, and Modini Mayacamas Preserves volunteer. We’ll learn about identifying field signs of mountain lions, bobcat, coyotes and more. Based on what we find, we'll guess what we might see on two wildlife cameras, then we'll check to see if the field signs match the pictures! Total hike is about 3 miles.

Click here to see past footage from the wildlife cameras.

Pre-registration is required. Limited to 11 participants. Click here to register on Eventbrite.

$20 per person suggested donation. Contributions support the preservation, education and conservation science programs of Audubon Canyon Ranch. All donations are greatly appreciated!

Cancellation policy: If this event is cancelled by ACR due to heavy rain, high winds or any other reason, we will notify you by email by 8:00 p.m. the night before. Light rain does not cancel.
