Promoting a conservation ethic in people of all ages is central to our mission of Conservation in Action. Please join us on the preserves to explore seasonal changes, take part in naturalist training or dig in with other volunteers to assist our land management team. Reservations are required for most events in order to ensure that human impact is kept in balance with land and habitat preservation goals.

Big Hike with Fawn Lilies

Audubon Canyon Ranch Event Calendar

Big Hike with Fawn Lilies

Mar 31 2018 - 9:00am to 2:00pm
Modini Mayacamas Preserves

Join this Big Hike with the best views and a stop to visit the St. Helena Fawn Lilies – a rare species that only occurs on a few mountains in the mid-Mayacamas Mountains. This will be a fairly strenuous lollipop hike of about 7.5 miles, with an elevation gain of about 1,000 feet, on trails over fairly rough terrain – including the Ridgeline Trail from Ferguson Springs, the Foss Stagecoach Trail and much of the Red Hill Loop. About 4 hours walking time. The pace will be set by veteran hike leader and retired Engineering Geologist Simon Lowings. Bring lunch and plenty of water.

$20 per person suggested donation. Contributions support the preservation, education and conservation science programs of Audubon Canyon Ranch. All donations are greatly appreciated!
