The Modini Mayacamas Preserves are located above Alexander Valley near Healdsburg, California, in the Mayacamas Mountains.
A favorite spot for birding, the sanctuary is traversed by Pine Flat Road, a public county road that meanders through the Preserves allowing visitors to enjoy the views and birdwatch from roadside pullouts anytime without appointment. Please drive very cautiously, this is a one-lane winding road with very limited sight lines.
Organized hikes in the Modini Mayacamas Preserves start at multiple locations along Pine Flat Road, varying from the bottom of the hill at the intersection of Pine Flat Road and Red Winery Road to 8 miles up the mountain. If you are attending an organized hike, please check the hike's calendar listing for the specific meeting spot. From there, hikers will carpool into the sanctuary.
Pine Flat Road is about 7 miles northeast of Healdsburg.
